Who are these people, anyway?

The Bride - Aurora Marie Cabrera Fojas

Marie was born in Savannah, Georgia. She grew up in Pikeville, Kentuky until the age of 10, when her family moved to New York. After spending her teenage years on Long Island, she attended Tufts University in Massachusetts. She met her handsome fiancé while at graduate school in Berkeley, California. She loves doughnuts, science and steaks done "extra-well". Also, she loves pork. Oh yeah - and Jeff.

The Groom - Jeffrey Nye

Jeff was born on a rainy morning in Washington, DC and grew up in Arlington, Virginia. He went north for college to Cornell in Ithaca, New York, and eventually wound up in California where he met his blushing bride-to-be. He also enjoys science, and spends his time cooking, playing dorky board games, beer-making and watching Indian music videos.

The Bride's Parents - David and Mary Ann Fojas

Marie's parents just flew in from the Philippines... and boy are their arms tired! They currently reside in Bay Shore on Long Island. David is a general contractor at South Nassau Communities Hospital and Mary-Ann is a supervisor at Seal-It, Inc. They love corny jokes (especially her dad) and showering their dog with attention. If you've ever wondered where Marie gets her love of a good sale, look no further than her mom. She taught Marie everything she knows about shopping.

The Groom's Parents - Darby and Susan Nye

Darby (Jeff's dad) and Susan reside in Arlington, Virginia. Susan is director of the preschool at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and Darby has been steadily climbing the ladder at the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel for, oh, thirty years or so. They love Sunday-morning pancakes, road trips to Canada and trains of all sizes.

The Groom's Parents - Cheryl and Steve Smith

Steve and Cheryl (Jeff's mom) live in beautiful Ijamsville, Maryland, where they manage their own network consulting business, NetSmith, Inc. Cheryl's idea of a perfect day begins with a good book and ends with a Longaberger basket party. Someday, Cheryl and Steve will find the time to travel the world in their RV.

The Maid of Honor - Shelly Shah

Shelly hails from Princeton Junction, New Jersey, but we don't hold that against her. She met Marie over a Chem 11 problem set at Tufts, and they have been fast friends ever since. Though Shelly is a lawyer across the country in New York, Marie still thinks of Shelly as one of her best friends. If Shelly's sense of humor, impeccable style, thoughtfulness, and no-nonsense attitude wasn't enough to recommend her as a great friend, the fact that she was able to road-trip across the country to Berkeley without strangling Marie speaks volumes.

The Best Man - David Nye

David is Jeff's little and far-less-successful brother. He and Jeff have spent many long hours together, compiling perhaps the world's most complete pre-DVD collection of Simpsons episodes on their Beta VCR. David is an accomplished ultimate frisbeer, and has been championed by many of Jeff's friends as a misunderstood comedic genius. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where he does... something with computers.

Marie's Brothers - Martin and Michael Fojas

Martin (upper) and Michael (lower) are Marie's younger brothers. They worship the ground their "Ate" walks on and fully admit that even though they are now slightly taller than her, she can still beat them up with one hand tied behind her back. They both agree that they could never ask for a better, or prettier, sister. Martin is a law student in New York and Michael is a computer engineering student in Georgia. When asked what one word they would use to describe their big sister, they both exclaimed, "Perfect!"

Jeff's Siblings - Kevin Smith, Henry Nye and Ellen Nye

Kevin, Henry and Ellen don't have a lot in common, but all three are wise beyond their years and are always ready to be beaten by Jeff in the video game of their choosing. Kevin's just beginning high school in Urbana, Maryland, whereas Henry and Ellen are walking the same halls Jeff and David once tread at Swanson Middle School in Arlington, Virginia.
